2020 Mazda CX-30 Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick
It was recently announced that the 2020 Mazda CX-30 earned the 2020 Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) when equipped with specific headlights. How awesome is that! Keep reading for all the great details!
In order to qualify for a 2020 Top Safety Pick award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in all six of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crashworthiness tests. Those tests include:
- Driver-side small overlap front
- Passenger-side small overlap front
- Moderate overlap front
- Roof strength
- Head restraint
It also needed advanced or superior ratings for both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention, as well as an acceptable or good headlight rating. The 2020 Mazda CX-30 did exactly that.
“Safety is a top priority with Mazda, and we are proud to have the CX-30 earn the 2020 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award,“ said Mazda North American Operations President Jeff Guyton. “We are committed to providing the most advanced safety technologies in our vehicles, and we continue to challenge ourselves to create unique products and technologies, which provide our customers a confident, relaxing, joyful driving experience.“
This is thanks to Mazda’s i-Activsense suite of safety technologies. These technologies use detection devices like milliwave radars and cameras. The suite plays an active role that supports safer driving by helping a driver notice potential driving hazards. The pre-collision safety technologies reinforce safer driving by facilitating the driver’s recognition of hazards.
